With Safety Front and Center, County Mutual Issues ODIP Dividend for Trempealeau County Justice Center

The new Trempealeau County Justice Center utilized the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation’s Owner Direct Insurance Program (ODIP) and was recently issued nearly a $173,000 dividend for 599 days with NO loss time injuries on the project.

The dividend was presented October 21, 2024 at the Trempealeau County Board Meeting.

The ODIP is a cost-saving insurance product that allows County Mutual member counties to take control of their workers’ compensation insurance needs on building projects such as jails, law enforcement centers and courthouses.

Aegis, a Charles Taylor Company serves as the administrator for County Mutual and conducted regular safety visits and on-site training on the Trempealeau County project. “From pre-bid meetings to completion of the project, we worked closely with the county, the contractor of the Samuel’s Group and employees to ensure that safety was at the forefront of their daily tasks,” said Vance Forrest, vice president of risk management for Aegis.

“We were able to present a dividend of $172, 886.71 to Trempealeau County because of the team effort,” Forrest added.  “This was a $40 million project, and this ‘big check’ was because of the commitment to safety from all parties.”

“For over 25 years, we have seen time and time again that the ODIP works,” said Michael Lamont, vice president of programs and services with the Wisconsin Counties Association. “Our County Mutual team’s tireless dedication to safety is exemplary in the industry and ultimately, it’s the taxpayers of Wisconsin that will benefit.”
